Toronto Argonauts Move Into Their New Home, The BMO Field

Following an underwhelming 2015 season, the Toronto Argonauts will attempt to improve last season’s 10-8 record while simultaneously juggling the challenges and opportunities of a new home and a new owner.

Last season, the performance of the Argos was a far cry from the unwavering determination that defined the past eras of legendary players such as Joe Krol, Dick Shatto, Danny Nykoluk, and Michael Clemens. Indeed, in 2015, the Argonauts alternated between brief winning and losing streaks. In particular, the Toronto Argonauts experienced devastating defeats against teams such as the Montreal Alouettes. While the Argos were eventually admitted to the post-season, the team faced a tense and suspenseful 22-25 loss in the East Semi-Final against their most notorious and revered rivals, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In summary, the 2015 season was unkind to one of the oldest and most celebrated teams in the Canadian Football League.

In truth, a significant portion of the team’s mediocre performance in 2015 can be attributed to scheduling conflicts and incessant traveling. Last season, the 2015 Pan American Games and the prosperity of the Toronto Blue Jays interfered with the schedules of the Argonauts. As a result, the Argos underwent extensive traveling on a hectic and unpredictable schedule. For Argos fans living in the team’s metropolis, home games were infrequent and limited.

This upcoming CFL season, the team will once again be helmed by head coach Scott Milanovich and general manager Jim Barker. In addition, the Argonauts will experience major behind-the-scene changes; this season, the franchise will switch ownership to Bell Canada and Larry Tanenbaum. Finally, this summer, the Toronto Argonauts will move into their new home, the BMO Field.

This season, can the Toronto Argonauts display the unquenchable lust for victory and unwavering determination that the team is recognized for? Or will the team disappoint fans once again? Find out on June 23rd, when the Argonauts face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at the BMO Field for the team’s first game of the 2016 CFL season!
