Oh Adele, how we’ve missed you!

After three years of agonizing silence, the English singer-songwriter has finally returned to revolutionize the music scene once again. While mainstream artists such as Taylor Swift and Beyonce have been dominating the music scene for the last few years, it is undeniable that Adele’s presence was sorely missed. After all, only the legendary crooner can deliver the heart-wrenching lyrics, powerhouse vocals, and unrivaled authenticity that made her a worldwide phenomenon in the first place.

This week, Adele announced her highly-anticipated return with the release of “Hello”, the lead single off her upcoming record 25. While it has been three years since she released her Academy Award-winning hit “Skyfall” for the James Bond film of the same name, it is obvious that Adele’s popularity has not waned in the least during her hiatus. In fact, Adele is back to her old tricks once again, as the music video of her lead single (which is directed by famed Montreal filmmaker Xavier Dolan) is already shattering records across the world. The music video for “Hello” broke the Vevo record for the most number of views in a day, and became the fastest video to attain 100 million Vevo views. In the United Kingdom, “Hello” sold 330,000 copies in first week sales, thus making it the biggest-selling number-one single in three years.

Adele’s upcoming studio effort is the follow-up to her 2011 masterpiece 21, which featured chart-topping hits such as “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You”. 21 was certified Diamond in the U.S. and took home multiple accolades, including six Grammy Awards. In the U.K., 21 is recognized as the most successful album of the 21st century, and the fourth best-selling album of all time. The album sold over 30 million copies worldwide.

25 is set to be released on November 20th, and will feature collaborations with acclaimed producers such as Danger Mouse and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder. We have our fingers crossed that the iconic songstress will take her music on the road in the very, very near future!
