Recently, the attention that’s been following the Vancouver Canucks has been less about their superb performances over the last few years, and more about the drama surrounding the team. This attention ranges from the Vancouver riots directly following their loss against the Boston Bruins in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals in 2011, to the recent mood-swings of goalie Roberto Luongo. For those of you who are unaware of the situation, a younger goalie was thought to replace Luongo after his inconsistent performances, but in the end it was decided to keep Luongo, who famously helped win Canada its gold medal during the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games.

The Canucks have a certain charm when it comes to their history, and one cannot help but admire the many times the team has had to rebuild and reinvent itself. It seems that this season will once again be a new beginning for the Canucks. But while the Sedin twins have proved that they are capable of producing greatness, at the end of the season, it all comes down to Luongo.

Here’s hoping the Canucks will begin to get the attention they deserve for all the right reasons.
