The Biggest Jazz Celebration in the World

This past week, the indoor program of Montreal’s International Jazz Festival was announced, and it appears that the celebration’s organizers have outdone themselves once again. From June 29 to July 9th, a star-studded ensemble of performers will descend upon the creatively ebullient city for a jubilee of culture, art, music, and passion.

The 38th edition of the renowned Jazz Festival will feature over 80 artists from 17 different countries. Performances will be spread across 11 different concert venues, including Metropolis and the halls of Place des Arts.

Naturally, the biggest name on the docket is recent Nobel Prize laureate Bob Dylan, who is best known for his iconoclastic artistry, spellbinding presence, and singular lyrics. The folk legend will take the stage of the Bell Centre on June 30. Aside from the iconic bard, the lineup features popular performers such as indie monarch Feist, ever-evolving progressive rock band King Crimson, husky songstress Serena Ryder, and Grammy Award-winning heartland artist Melissa Etheridge. Other less prominent (but not to be missed) acts include energetic folk rock band the Strumbellas, stylish cocktail-hour royalty Pink Martini, acclaimed rapper Joey Bada$$, and the smooth Lisa Simone (the daughter of the incomparable Nina). In addition, a show that is not to be missed under any circumstances will be the Orchestre Métropolitain’s performance of a live soundtrack to a screening of the critical darling La La Land at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts.

This summer, prepare to become consumed by the music of the soul, and experience the wondrous artistic diversity that defines the restless city of Montreal! Be sure to get your tickets to the most incredible jazz celebration in the world!
