Maroon 5 Back in Montreal

Updated: January 10, 2017

Since exploding onto the music scene in 2002, Maroon 5 have attained the pinnacle of prosperity by keeping to a formula that is tried and true. It’s no surprise, then, that this formula involves releasing consistent music and delivering dynamic live shows. Fifteen years later, Maroon 5 retains its deeply important relevance and flair, partly due to lead singer Adam Levine’s status as a judge on NBC’s wildly popular reality television singing competition The Voice. In short, with every newly released masterpiece, the members of Maroon 5 continue to cement the concept that they belong to one of the most influential bands of our time.

Now, Maroon 5 is in the process of preparing its highly-anticipated follow-up to 2014’s V, which featured the smash hits “Maps” and “Sugar”. On its currently untitled sixth studio effort, the band has teased that it would abandon the electropop sound which dominated recent records in favor of a return to the tone of its debut album Songs About Jane. As a result, fans can expect that the group will once again exhibit its proficiency at blending genres.

Notably, in October 2016, Maroon 5 released “Don’t Wanna Know”, an infectious new single featuring Kendrick Lamar which sees the band move into uncharted new territory. “Don’t Wanna Know” emits breezy and lighthearted tropical vibes, despite lyrically being about using partying as a form of escapism from a turbulent love life. Indeed, the single trades heavy-hitting pop hooks for subtlety. Thus far, “Don’t Wanna Know” has topped the Billboard chart of the U.S. Adult Top 40.

But, before the influential band releases its new album, it will first complete a long-running tour. Be sure to catch Maroon 5 at venues such as Montreal’s Bell Centre, Quebec’s Videotron Centre, and Hamilton’s First Ontario Centre. These tour dates were originally postponed due to the birth of Adam Levine’s child in September. In addition, it is worth nothing that members of Maroon 5 have recruited R&B singer-songwriter Tinashe and hip hop duo R. City to fulfill opening duties.
